Water Activities

The river lot and the river garonne both provide pleasure boating and attractive walks for holidaymakers and your holiday accommodation, close to Villeneuve-sur-lot, is conveniently situated about ten minutes drive from the river lot itself. The river rehabilitation program undertaken several years ago in the Lot-et-Garonne has opened up over 200 km of navigable waterways, one of the most extensive and pleasant river networks in Southern Europe. It is possible to take one or two hour boat trips with commentary on points of interest. Villeneuve-sur-Lot has electric boats for hire and there are various places offering, Canoeing, Kayaking, Water Skiing at Fongrave, row boats and even hydroplanes (mini hovercrafts, suitable for both adults and children).

Fishing

The area is a super place for anglers, with fishing permits available from Angling stores and a number of other places such as Tourist Offices and Tabacs. The local Anglers Federation publishes a comprehensive booklet each year on the rivers, the rules for the catch and the different seasons for different species. The permit is called a Carte de Peche and comes in different forms such as the Carte Journaliere, for one day’s fishing and Carte Vacances for 15 days from June 1st to September 30th. There is a large fishing lake at Ste Colombe, just south of Villeneuve-sur-lot, another easy drive from Valmar and large Carp and Trout can be found in the nearby river Lot. For big game fishing you can travel to Arcachon and Cap Feret. Fishing tackle is available in Ste Livrade and also at the large supermarket Auchan, about ten minutes drive away.

The more adventurous can try their hand at flying a micro-light at nearby Grange-sur-lot.              

Again for the more active, Quad bikes and motorcycles are available for hire along the main road to Villeneuve.

Golf

Villeneuve-sur-lot golf and country club

If you travel to “Valmar” from Bergerac airport, along the main N21 route, you will see Villeneuve-sur-lot golf and country club at Castelnaud-de-Gratecambe (on the left hand-side of the road), which is about a 20 minute drive from “Valmar”. This 18 hole championship golf course is a par 72, a good test of golf and includes very enjoyable and receptive greens. The course is very undulating with some spectacular views. There is a putting green, driving range and guests can benefit from golf lessons, buggy hire, the club house and excellent restaurant facilities. There is also a swimming pool and Tennis courts.

Golf de Marmande

A 9 hole course, with practice driving range and putting green. A restaurant is also available to cater for your Gourmand requirements

Golf Agen Bon-Encontre

9 hole course, again with practice driving range, putting greens and restaurant

There is also a 9 hole course with practice area and pro shop at Tombeboeuf (a similar distance). Both courses have equipment for hire.

Theme Park

Distance from Valmar - 45km, approx 45 mins by car. Located just Northwest of Agen off the A62 and nestling in over 30 hectares of parkland, Walibi Aquitaine offers a fantastic fun-packed day out for all the family. Watched over by an 18th Century castle, is a world filled with pleasure, thrills and laughter, with rollercoasters, water rides, spectacular shows and events that succeed each other throughout the day. For the very young there is the petit train, Walibiland and Baby Kangourou.
Open 7 days a week from the middle of June through to the end of August, and at weekends outside of this time.

Parc-en-Ciel:

If you like climbing around, this is for you. There are five rope courses in the trees, two small courses for children, and three progressively more difficult courses for adults. Harnesses and instruction are included. If climbing around is not your thing, you can enjoy a round of mini-golf. A small farm and snail museum are also attractions. A lovely rural location for taking your picnic along to. Situated at Lacapelle-Biron on the D420, north-west of Fumel. The park opens every day between 9am and 8pm throughout July and August, and at weekends at other times.

Ten Pin Bowling

In the spring of 2008, a brand new, 8 lane, Ten Pin Bowling Alley was opened at Allez-et-Cazeneuve, on the main 'Route de Bordeaux', in the direction of Villeneuve-sur-Lot.

There are several pool tables and a restaurant within the facility, so after you have built up an appetite bowling, there is somewhere for you to replenish that spent energy.

It is very convenient at only 10 minutes drive from your self-catering accommodation.

Piscine de Malbentre

A 15 minute drive will take you to the 'Piscine de Malbentre', situated between Villeneuve-sur-lot and Pujols. An open-air swimming complex, with main pool, shallow area for toddlers and seperate 6 lane slide. Open throughout the summer months, as late as 8 or 9pm in July and August. There is an adjacent indoor pool for off-peak periods. Fun for the whole family !
