Well it’s 28th May 2012 and we’re back here at Valmar Gite, our very own Holiday ‘Home from Home’ in the Lot et Garonne dept of South West France.
We had an early start this morning for a 0735hrs take-off from East Midlands airport. I like to catch an earlier flight if possible, as it means that about an hour and 25 mins after leaving our local UK airport, we are landing at Bergerac, which means that a short drive later we can be at Valmar and by the pool by lunchtime – brilliant !

The green rolling landscape and cows grazing in the fields remind us very much of England, but one of the differences you notice, are the number of swimming pools dotted around the place, giving you a clue that the climate here is somewhat warmer than back home.
The weather forecast for the duration of our stay was looking pretty good, with only the possibility of a shower, on one, maybe two days during the week and temperatures predicted to get into the 80‘s – that‘ll do. So it was great for us all to have the swimming kit on by mid afternoon and taking that first ‘dip’ of the year.
Looking forward now to some warm early summer sun on my back, good food and a relaxing time.
